The mining and lumber industry will be impacted by the pending US-Colombia FTA, in terms of decreased royalties paid to the state for non-renewable extractable resources. These royalties are used for public works projects, road maintenance, drinking water systems, etc. Leanias does not currently have any of these services; in the future, they are even less likely to obtain them, under the FTA.
